Espial, a provider of On-Demand TV solutions, announced that the Espial TV Browser is powering consumer electronics major Hitachi's latest Connected TV models being shipped into the Japanese market.This is in order to achieve its goal of being one of the premium TV suppliers to the Japanese Market
Working with Espial, Hitachi claims to be the first manufacturer to ship
a connected TV in Japan and the browser is said to be the first
WebKit-based browser to support standards and web portals such as BML,
AcTVila with full VOD download and VOD streaming capabilities, Yahoo
Doga, Wooonet (Portal site). Other benefits of the Espial TV Browser include its ability to
operate in both HTML and BML modes. This reduces ROM resources since
it's one-codebase for two browsers instead of two-codebases for two
browsers.

Katsumata, general manager, Visual Technology Solutions Digital AV Products Division, Hitachi Consumer Electronics, said:
