yap.TV to Add Audible Magic Content Recognition to Its Social TV Platform
Audible Magic, a leader in automated content recognition (ACR)
services and solutions, and yap.TV, which offers a rich and varied
second-screen social TV experience for viewers, today announced that
yap.TV will integrate Audible Magic's SmartSync ACR solution into its
popular technology platform. The updated application is set to launch
later this calendar quarter.
This agreement, one of several Audible Magic has announced in the last month, also underscores the growing acceptance of the company's ACR solutions among leading application developers and consumer electronic (CE) device manufacturers in the fast evolving connected TV and smart device markets. For virtually all social TV, interactive advertising, and related applications to fully succeed, the company contends, the ability of multiple devices to recognize aired content — even on live, never-before-shown programs — in real time is essential.
"ACR is fundamental to creating an interactive TV experience," said yap.TV CMO Shawn Cunningham. "By recognizing the content being aired, whether live or recorded, we can extend the entertainment experience on the second screen with real-time, synched content. We found Audible Magic to be an ideal partner with a robust platform capable of delivering on this vision today."
"Today, one out of every five Twitter tweets is about a TV show," added Audible Magic VP of Marketing Jay Friedman. "And we see similar findings coming from Facebook and other social networks. The relationship between watching TV and connecting socially is already very strong, and superb social TV applications such as yap.TV will strengthen that relationship even more. Viewers will have a more connected, more satisfying experience. In turn, content providers, broadcasters, advertisers, and consumer electronics companies will also benefit."
