CES 2012: KIT digital Launches Extensions for Its Connected Device Framework for Major Broadcast Customers
KIT Digital, a leading premium cloud-based software solutions and technology services provider for multiscreen video management and delivery, today announced the release of a number of Social TV user experiences across the Xbox LIVE service, including voice and motion controlled applications for UK-based Channel 4 and Channel 5. Additionally, KIT digital will soon deliver new Foxtel (Australia) and Prisa TV (Spain) applications to Xbox. A major broadcaster and a large cable operator in the UK have also contracted KIT digital to guide the development of their Xbox implementations.
KIT digital has also provided content protection services for a number of customers on the Xbox LIVE service, using Microsoft PlayReady technology and the license delivery services of the KIT digital Cosmos software platform.
Alex Blum, chief operating officer of KIT digital, commented:
"Xbox LIVE is a significant advancement in IP-delivered Social and Interactive TV. Microsoft's innovative approach enabled KIT digital's talented designers and developers to extend our efforts for the KIT Connected Device Framework and KIT Social TV to the Xbox platform. This allows users to control their TV experience using gesture and voice, an idea seen as impossible only years ago. We're delighted to have collaborated with Microsoft on the delivery of these socially enabled VOD and linear applications for their platform, helping to transform the TV viewing experience."
The applications were built using the KIT digital Connected Device Framework (CDF), which simplifies the integration of new devices to the KIT video platform. As the number of highly-capable video devices continues to grow, the CDF provides a set of developer tools that allow rich video experiences to be created for these devices, with video served by the KIT Video Platform (available in two editions; KIT Cloud and KIT Cosmos).
Members of the KIT digital partnership and business development team are at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week meeting with established and emerging consumer electronics manufacturers about the CDF. The KIT digital team is exhibiting latest product innovations at The Venentian Hotel in Suite #31-211.
