Accedo, leading enabler of Smart TV and IPTV applications, and maxdome, Germany's leading video-on-demand provider, today announced a partnership to develop next generation SmartTV apps for multiple platforms.
The first official app being developed under the partnership will be the Panasonic VieraConnect application that was launched on 29th March 2012. The application, which gives viewers access to a vast catalogue of 45,000 video titles, including films, series, comedy shows, documentaries, music, children’s programmes, and many more, has been made available this month on 2012 Panasonic Viera TVs.
The two companies are also working together to develop next generation Video-on-Demand (VOD) apps for other platforms and these are expected to launch in 2012 across a number of different devices globally.
“We are thrilled to be working with maxdome, which is not only the largest VOD provider in Germany, but also a very innovative company with a clear vision of the future OTT market.” commented Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo.
“Smart TV opens up a wealth of opportunity to engage with the customer in a new and exciting way, as well as to extend our reach in the living room,” commented Rene Rummel, Head of Product Management and Business Development, maxdome. “Accedo was a natural choice for us to partner with on this project, given the company’s extensive experience in this field.”
