Mela, a global provider of South Asian film and television
entertainment content, reached another milestone this month by launching
its service on Samsung Smart TV and Samsung Blu-Ray DVD Players.
As Samsung is the most viewed platform for online content today, launching single account login service to Mela on it brings differentiated value to South Asians around the globe. Mela's other platforms currently include Android base tablets, Roku players, iPad, Kindle Fires, Samsung Galaxy Tablets, PC, and similar Internet-enabled devices. In addition to dozens of live television channels, movies will also be available on Samsung TVs under the "MelaFlix" icon.
With over 25 million Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-Ray devices sold globally in the last 12 months, CEO of Verismo Networks, Inc. Prakash Bhalerao stated, "It is a critical and necessary step for Mela to have a presence on these new platforms in order for us to build a strong impression and expansive reach in the international market."
Earlier, GM of Mela Samir Sohail shared his views on the company's growth, saying:
"With a highly focused and result-oriented team, Mela exceeded all expectations in a very short time and is on track for worldwide distribution of its content on multiple platforms." Mr. Sohail further stated, "launching Mela on Samsung was a very important part of the TV-Everywhere strategy of the company."
