TVplus is excited to announce that we've been selected by the world’s number one nonfiction media company, Discovery Communications, to power digital co-viewing experiences for its family of networks, including Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet.
The TVplus technology will be incorporated into existing and forthcoming network apps, with the first activation beginning next week when Discovery Channel premieres the latest season of it's wildly popular mini-series, 'Shark Week'.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary with the most robust lineup of digital and social opportunities, Shark Week viewers will be able to gain access to a deeply engaging second-screen experience. The audio-synced experience will include a variety of content – from behind-the-scenes information and shark facts, to quizzes, polls and social conversation. The experience will be available on the the Discovery Channel HD App for iPad.
The first opportunity for viewers to participate will be this upcoming Sunday, August 12th at 9pm ET/PT, with the premiere of 'Air Jaws Apocalypse', continuing through Thursday, August 16th.
Beyond the co-viewing experience for Shark Week, Discovery Communications will be incorporating the TVplus technology in future digital offerings across its family of networks, including Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet.

The TVplus technology has been used to power such notable second-screen activations as the 2011 Emmy Awards, the inaugural season of The X Factor on FOX, and A&E Network’s most popular series, Storage Wars. Other major networks have also recently selected the Orange, California-based Tech Company, including CBS and Univision, with network-wide initiatives launching in the fall.
The TVplus SDK and technology is available for licensing, allowing partners to create synchronized interactive companion television and video experiences for their audience at scale. The SDK comes complete with ACR technology, access to the TVplus proprietary Content Management System (CMS), and the ability to create, position, and publish interactive content to any device (Web, iOS, Android).
