In a new blog post, American Social TV tracker Trendrr has listed SpongeBob number one in US Social TV with over 21.7 million social interactions across Twitter, Facebook, GetGlue and Viggle and roundeding out second was the "The X Factor" (16.6 million) from Fox then NBC’s "The Voice" (11/1 million). Rounding out the top five for 2012 was "Pretty Little Liars" (ABC Family, 104 million) and "The Bad Girls Club" (Oxygen, 9.4 million).
In an Adage report:
A quick glance reveals some seemingly clear winners -- NBC as the most social network, and "SpongeBob SquarePants" as the most social show -- but both of those triumphs come with caveats: NBC got a huge boost from the Olympics; if you cut out all sports and special programming, Fox would actually be the most social network. And "SpongeBob" wins on sheer volume of social activity thanks to its heavy broadcast schedule, but on a social-activity-per-episode basis, "The X Factor" triumphs.
One winner without caveats: Apple iOS, which beats out Android and BlackBerry as the mobile platform most used for social-TV activity on Twitter, Facebook, GetGlue and Viggle.
