iPad fever continuous - Verizon brings Live TV to iPad
Several sources reported that at the beginning of 2011 Verizon will come with an application that streams Live TV to the iPad.
For the FiOS subscibers it will be possible to watch the same lineair programming on TV, onto their iPad.
Besides lineair programming, FiOS
users can also watch on-demand video, such as rented movies.
The next challenge for Verizon is to persuade TV channels like Walt Disney and Time Warner to extend their content to tablet devices.
In the beginning, the new service will only work in the home, via a home Wi-Fi connection.
The new service could be incorported within Verizon's TV-anywhere strategy.

Verizon's CIO Shaygan
Kheradpir elaborates:
"We built Fios TV as a cloud computing product. The set-top box function is all done in software, and we simply redirect the broadcast TV signal to another screen. And because the set-top function is in software we can implement the functionality in devices."
Competition is fierce.
Hulu introduced a paid service for watching TV shows and movies on devices like computers, TV's, mobile and game consoles.
Netflix on the other hand has already an iPad application earlier this year.
The biggest difference between Verizon and Hulu / Verizon is that Verizon will stream Live TV. This could be a key differentiator until competition has catched up.
