Samsung Galaxy Android Tablet Unveiled at IFA 2010 in Berlin
The Apple iPad tablet was released in mid-summer this year... and it has since then sold millions of units worldwide. The Apple tablet has ignited the tablet market. There are a number of new Android and Windows based tablets now shooting for the Apple iPad’s top spot. But this one from Samsung looks to be a top contender. Running on Android makes it especially interesting for the upcoming Google TV launch as it's also based on Android (as well as HTML 5 and Adobe Flash) which could make for some interesting two screen Social TV experiences.
And today's announcement at IFA 2010 marks the first time the public is seeing official specs from Samsung.
Official pricing has not yet been released, but the device is due to hit European markets in mid-September, and U.S. and Asia by year's end.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Android 2.2 (Froyo) tablet comes with a 7-inch AMOLED display that features capacitive multi-touch and runs on a Samsung Hummingbird A8 1.2GHz processor –to compare the Apple iPad comes with a Apple A4 1Ghz processor– which is ARM based just like the A4 chip from Apple.

The Samsung Galaxy tab is also built with 16GB to 42GB internal storage. The tablet will also come with a front facing 3.2 mega-pixels camera which will allow users to make video phone calls. Connectivity on the Galaxy Tab feature Wi-Fi and 3G and also supports Swype typing technology.
Industry pundits have said it could be priced under €200 with a two year contract in Europe, but company officials are not talking. Some experts believe that the Samsung Galaxy Tablet will become more popular than the Apple iPad. One feature of Samsung’s model will be the built-in digital camera, something that the iPad lacks.
