The BuddyTV app, available for free download in Apple’s iTunes store as of Sept. 28, is the latest player in the two-screen social TV space along with Miso, Philo, Tunerfish et al. Like other social TV wares, viewers can connect with other fans of their favorite shows, share their thoughts on new and past episodes and see what fellow fans have to say. They have integrated the API's of Twitter and Facebook into their design which is clever - and allows for maximum dissemination via their platform.

The new BuddyTV app allows iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users to:

  • - See what other fans have to say
  • - Discover new shows and find new perspectives about must-sees
  • - Comment on favorite TV shows while they’re watching
  • - Share their comments on Facebook and Twitter
  • - Earn credits like Executive Producer for being a top commenter
  • - Get insider updates about episodes from actors, directors and writers-like The Biggest Loser’s trainer Jillian Michaels, Undercovers’ executive producer Josh Reims, and America’s Next Top Model judge and photographer Nigel Barker and executive producer Laura Fuest

"We didn’t want to build just another TV app. We built an app that captures the excitement and emotion of watching TV with fans, friends and family in a virtual viewing party," said Andy Liu, CEO of BuddyTV.
