At Digital Hollywood, the premier entertainment and technology conference in the United States, and Digital Hollywood's Content Summit, Gomez will participate in three panels that address the various facets of transmedia implementation for writers, studios, networks and brands. Gomez will speak on the Transmedia Production--Inventing the Language of Cross-platform, Non-linear Narration and Transmedia Storytelling - Crossing the Line towards Infinity and Beyond panels on Wednesday, October 20th and the Strategizing the Campaign and the Entertainment Brand: Selling Movies, TV and Video on the Web, Social Media, Mobile and TV panel on Thursday, October 21st. Gomez will also participate in the Producer Guild of America East's Master Class: Transmedia Storytelling - The New Entertainment Paradigm at New York City's The New School on Tuesday, October 26th, with special guest Brent Weinstein, Head of Digital Media for United Talent Agency. In this master class, Gomez will candidly share his latest experiences in the field and the techniques of funding, planning, creating, and producing highly engaging story worlds that maximize both the creative potential of a work, equity participation, and subsequent revenues. The event, which is co-sponsored by United Talent Agency (UTA) and the PGA East, is currently sold out.
At CineKid, an annual film, television and new-media festival for children, which commences on the 20th of October through to the 29th, Gomez will present a half-day Transmedia Master Class sponsored by Blink Studios, a film, animation and visual effects house based in Dubai, on Friday the 29th. A day prior, he will also participate in one-on-one consultation meetings with producers from around the world as part of the Cross Media Market breakfast on Thursday, October 28th. Gomez is the world's foremost expert at turning entertainment properties and premium brands into highly successful transmedia franchises. He conceived, co-wrote, and produced one of the most successful transmedia storylines of the decade with Mattel's Hot Wheels comic books, videogames, web content, and animated series. He also worked on such properties as Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar, Coca-Cola's Happiness Factory, Halo, Transformers, and the upcoming Tron Legacy. Transmedia storytelling, as coined by Gomez, is the "the technique of conveying messages, themes or storylines to mass audiences through the artful and well-planned use of multiple media platforms."
Jeff Gomez has spoken at conferences around the world on the subject of transmedia storytelling, including Produced By, O'Reilly Conferences, Digital Hollywood, MIPTV, Association of Brazilian Advertisers, Game Developers Conference, KidScreen Summit and Digital Media Wire's Future of Television, among many others.
Gomez is a Board Member of the Producers Guild of America East where he was a driving force in getting a new producer credit for Transmedia Producers ratified - an amendment which Gomez conceived and drafted and which was approved by the Producer's Guild of America on April 7, 2010.
He founded Starlight Runner Entertainment with business partner Mark Pensavalle in 2000. Gomez and Pensavalle have recently been featured in the Details magazine "Mavericks" special issue for the company's pioneering work with storytelling and have been profiled in reputable publications including Forbes, BusinessWeek, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, Publisher's Weekly and World Screen News.
