I had just finished writing this article on Sony's Google TV remote and it's user experience, when I read this press release by Best Buy on BusinessWire.
Best Buy welcomes customers to their stores where they can experience Google TV. The company is making it easy (at least easier) to experience the future of TV by having in-store demonstrations showcasing the benefits and abilities of Google TV. Customers who purchase a Sony Internet TV or Blu-ray player powered by Google TV will receive complimentary Geek Squad set-up and consultative services
Michael Vitelli, Executive Vice President, said:
“We know that consumers are hungry for the type of connected TV experiences that Sony and Google are bringing to the table. With our physical retail locations, Best Buy is uniquely positioned to bring this experience to life for our customers through our Blue Shirts and Geek Squad Agents. People expect the latest and greatest home entertainment products from us, but also the expertise and support that make it easier for them to enjoy these experiences.”
In relation to the article on Sony's remote for Google TV and its user experience, this is a different way -powered by a retailer- to educate consumers on Google TV and its benefits and give them a first glance on the interface and hardware. Smart move by Best Buy to ehance its service to a specific CE segment, to introduce the future of TV via Google TV to its customers.
