Samsung Google TV's could be announced in January
The LA Times is reporting on the January announcement referring to an interview of Yoon Boo Keun, the head of Samsung Electronic Co.’s television business, with Bloomberg. Samsung televisions could be soon running Google TV, details of the plan have yet to be decided, but the company is "open" to use Intel Corp's chips for its TV's.
Samsung thus could follow a similar strategy as Sony did, and with the growth projection of the Connected TV industry and its CE devices it could be a win-win deal for both Samsung and Google. For Google to penetrate the market, for Samsung to get a (large) share out of this growing market when it comes to televisions.
According to the same Bloomberg article, this is a much needed boost as Samsung:
Forecast “severe” price competition in the TV industry in the fourth quarter after its digital-media division posted a loss of about 230 billion won ($204 million) in the three months ended September.
