US TVGuide.com Expands Social TV Offerings - Social TV Leader Averages 10,000 TV Check-ins Per Day Since October Launch
TVGuide.com announced last week that its popular TV Check-in feature, which allows fans to share with Facebook friends what TV shows they are watching by clicking “I’ll Watch” buttons on the site, has been enhanced with personalization capabilities and integrated into its TV listings grid. Starting today, logged-in TVGuide.com users will see a personalized “Hot List” of their favorite shows throughout the site, featuring tune-in information for the shows and “I’ll Watch” buttons.
“TVGuide.com’s users have demonstrated their social influence by checking in and sharing tune-in information about their favorite shows with their Facebook friends”
Since TVGuide.com launched TV Check-in Oct. 20, the site has averaged 10,000 check-ins per day. The top checked-in episodes include shows from all of the major networks, including over 7,400 distinct episodes of over 1,800 distinct TV shows on most networks. Top checked-in shows include “House,” “Vampire Diaries,” the CMA Awards, “Sons of Anarchy,” Monday Night Football, “The Office,” and “Blue Bloods.”
“TVGuide.com’s users have demonstrated their social influence by checking in and sharing tune-in information about their favorite shows with their Facebook friends,” said Christy Tanner, Senior Vice President and General Manager, TVGuide.com. “Today, we are creating an even better user experience and taking social TV a step further by giving logged-in users personalized Hot Lists.”
Last month, TVGuide.com became the first online entertainment site to deliver TV Check-In to a mass market. Sponsored by ABC Network, the beta launch of TV Check-In integrated “I’ll Watch” buttons with one of TVGuide.com’s most popular features – editors’ TV Hot List – which highlights the top must-see TV shows airing each night. TV Check-In is integrated throughout TVGuide.com, including the homepage, the listings grid, more than 10,000 TV show fan pages, news stories and the TV Hot List feature. As of today, “I’ll Watch” buttons are also integrated into every cell in TVGuide.com’s TV listings grid, which allows for quick and simple check-in as users make viewing decisions.
