Dutch Digital TV market grows to 5.26 million

Telecompaper's "Dutch Television Subscribers report" shows a growth by 3.4 percent or 174,300 net additions during the third quarter of 2010 to 5.26 million on 30 September of of digital TV connections. The Digital TV share in relation to the entire TV market is 65.7%. The total number of Dutch TV connections increased to 8.01 million on 30 September 2010.

Telecompaper analyst Kamiel Albrecht said:

“At the moment, digital penetration on cable networks amounts to 52.5 percent. We are expecting the number of total digital TV connections to grow to between 5.5 and 5.6 million at the end of this year.”

Distribution of Digital TV connections:

*Cable accounts for 54,8%;

*Satellite accounts for 18,2%, down with 0,9%;

*Terrestial accounts for 17,1%, down with 0,5% and

*IPTV accounts for 8,4%, up with 0,7% during Q3.

FTTH (Fiber to the Home) has a share of 1,4% on the Digital TV market. Ziggo is the largest provider of Digital TV accounting for 32,9%.
