A new in-store digital screen system, build by MTI, has built-in support to integrate Social Media. The system can also be linked to the retailers’ own Internet operations.
MTI marketing director Helen Stonhill, said:
“Retailers who use social applications like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare to communicate and interact with consumers on PCs and phones can now use [the Intuition ReAct digital-signage platform] to integrate those content feeds into interactive digital displays running right in store aisles.
A typical retail Website has a lot of secondary information about products that can be really valuable in helping shoppers make final buying decisions.”
The system, which it is claimed will survive 100,000 hours of constant use, includes a player supporting both 2D and 3D, as well as Web-based content and player management. The Web system, ReAct DDS, also provides templates for quick content creation. Elements such as Facebook Like buttons can be placed on touchscreen interfaces.
This is progress in terms of involving any screen within the digital ecosystem and creating new and enhanced experience. Think of extracting intelligence from shoppers, enhance the Website<->store (online/offline) holistic brand experience and deploy social media in the marketing mix for different purposes.
