Amazon VOD attacks Apple TV with 99 cent purchases: starting from NOW
A day after the Apple event, Amazon offers 99 cent episodes from Now!
Yesterday Steve Jobs announced the Apple TV to be available in four weeks.
The fact that Amazon Video-on-Demand is already offering ABC and Fox episodes is an advantage for those who can't wait.
Does Apple need to worry?
The important difference with the Apple model (on-demand streaming content) is that Amazon VOD customers actually purchase their content.
A purchase for 99 cents is even a greater deal for many, but Apple research (elaborated by Steve Jobs at the conference) has shown that Apple customers are not eager to hussle with storage management.
Is Amazon attacking the same customer segment that Apple is going for?
I doubt it, Apple fans are product fanatics and brand-loyal, who can't be persuaded easily.
But it certainly adds more dynamic to the industry.
What do you think of Amazon's move, will this hurt Apple?
