Spain's AtresMedia (On 6 March 2013 Grupo Antena 3 was renamed Atresmedia) has made the leap to more interactive television with AtresMedia Conecta - a second screen, social TV application.
Viewers who download the App, can enjoy exclusive content and AtresMedia programs through AtresMedia Connect. This interactive application, available for free for Android, iPhone and iPad , extends the range of interactive broadcasts beyond Antena 3.
In addition, AtresMedia Conecta presents a much more visual and intuitive user experience with improved functionality on social networks - for instance, you can comment and follow the thread of the most used hashtags on Twitter without leaving the app, among many other options.
To enjoy exclusive content during the program or series of Antena 3, users only need to download the free AtresMedia Conecta application on a mobile device or 'tablet' and then will receive additional content during the broadcast as well as "events" through which the viewer can receive videos, pictures, links, clues and questions, among other content, all live and following the thread of what happens on television.
Viewers can, for example, use the second screen app with series like Gran Hotel, Con el culo al aire, Pesadilla en la cocina, Increíbles, La Sexta Noche, El Número Uno among others. When the audience fires up the app during TV shows, they receive a notification on their smartphone or tablet when the interactive broadcast begins and then they can decide if they want to participate. The Second Screen audience can also tell when a broadcast is interactive with ads ads that appear on TV.
AtresMedia Connect is a second screen application to expand the experience of watching TV, so it does not incorporate live broadcast programs and full series but rather provides context, social and playalong features.
Atresmedia, one of the leading media groups of the Spanish market, is the first TV and radio broadcaster to have been publicly listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange. Significant shareholders include Planeta DeAgostini and RTL Group.
