applicasterCaracol TV, a national television network that has produced many of Colombia’s most innovative and successful television programs, has successfully launched its new TV application, Parlar TV, to accommodate the new mobile TV viewership patterns. With historical records in live interactive polls during The VoiceColombia, Parlar TV is showing all of its potential as a breakthrough and powerful second screen app. The application was developed by Applicaster, and will offer news, entertainment and sports programming, enriched with video on-demand, social TV and second screen experiences

“Caracol TV is an innovative TV player, and as it expands its offering internationally, we expect to see additional new media initiatives, offering viewers more ways for TV interaction and participation.” Said Idan Maron, VP Production at Applicaster.

“For us at Applicaster this launch marks another successful ‘The Voice’ companion TV experience, following ‘The Voice’ in The Netherlands, Mexico, and Israel.”

“Parlar TV is a new channel for us catering to our audiences in additional settings and viewership opportunities, for entertainment, news and sports programming”. Said Camilo Acuña, VP Programming from Caracol Television. “The social buzz and commercial potential of this additional viewer participation is rapidly growing in the region, and we are keen on serving our viewers and extending the reach of our content through interaction and social features.”

The first show featured on Parlar TV is The Voice Colombia. As TV consumption habits are changing in Colombia, Caracol TV is innovating to accommodate the companion screen activities and offer a rich social TV experience and profitable second screen activities. Through Parlar TV, viewers now enjoy the show with their friends online, comment, vote, play trivia, and share their thoughts and feelings. The app offers a unique aggregated live feed of both broadcaster driven activities and social networks integration. The activities include a variety of gamification events, behind the scenes exclusive content, and various layers of information, to enhance primetime viewership. Show related tweets and Facebook posts are integrated into the TV app feed during live primetime shows.

In addition, ads included in the feed become a fun, integrated part of the activity, and can be timed in relation to content on TV. Caracol TV plans on introducing commercial sponsorships within the second screen activities in order to further increase viewer participation.
