NBCUniversal has selected PayWizard’s media specialist platform to provide payment and subscription management services for its Picturebox VoD service. PayWizard also provides NBCUniversal with customer service operations and support.
Owned by Comcast Corporation, NBCUniversal is one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information. The company owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant TV production operations, a leading TV group, world-renowned theme parks, and a suite of Internet-based businesses.
Its PictureBox Video on Demand (VoD) movie service offers a selection of movies, from a variety of major film studios, for a monthly subscription. Available through several TV broadcast platform partners or via the internet using the PictureBox Player, the service is available in the UK, Poland and Singapore.
NBCUniversal launched its PictureBox Player in March 2011, but subsequently upgraded its existing CRM and payment solutions. The company wanted to take full advantage of monetization opportunities presented by multiple platforms. A new solution was being sought for its PictureBox Player to manage subscriptions on multiple platforms and devices NBCUniversal required a solution that was secure, robust and flexible and with the capability to be seamlessly integrated with other third parties providing playout and front end for the service.
